Project Type: Railway Infrastructure / Transportation Infrastructure (Civil Works)
Delivery Method: Design–Bid–Build (Civil Construction Contract)
Project Summary:
VICC executed civil works for the construction of the Aqina–Andkhoy Railway, a strategic 30-kilometer rail corridor comprising approximately 24 kilometers of main line and 6 kilometers of sub-line. The project forms part of Afghanistan’s broader effort to expand regional rail connectivity and support cross-border trade and logistics.
The scope of work included detailed surveying and setting-out, earthworks, embankment construction, subgrade preparation, and formation of the railway alignment in challenging terrain and climatic conditions. VICC performed extensive cut-and-fill operations, soil stabilization, drainage works, and construction of associated civil infrastructure to ensure long-term performance and resilience of the rail corridor.
Works were executed under austere conditions, requiring careful coordination of equipment, materials, workforce accommodation, and site security. VICC also implemented quality control, safety management, and environmental protection measures consistent with international infrastructure standards.
This project demonstrates VICC’s capability to deliver large-scale linear infrastructure in frontier environments, supporting national transportation networks and regional economic development.
